How not to get your Mother applying for you!!!!

Posted on: 26/7/2012

Please see below the types of emails we receive from people looking for work or mothers have a great bash at keeping their daughter unemployed!!!

While we all understand life is hard some time and a little stressful I am slightly unsure what I did to cause so much angry and hate to this person. Needless to say we will not be offering them a job and I gracefully moved away from the war of words to concentrate on working with the nice people who choice to come and work with us!!!

The start of this person’s anger was a change of interview date 2 weeks in advance due to staff availability and venue hire. This change affected 37 people and all were contacted with a apology,

Have a read and go upwards. Person As I have stated below I employ people from every background and walk of life to come and have an experience of festivals and events!

Allie,

I think for all concerned we should drawn a line on this matter and I will ensure I have deleted Chloe’s application for data-protection and to make sure we do not contact you again.

As for: spotty teenagers” desperate for work `dare' to point this out to you.  I don’t feel I actually employ “Spotty teenagers” I employ people; I do not separate anyone in my employment by age, race, background or spots. My age bracket at V Chelmsford last year was 17yrs to 72 years. Joan aged 72 and she was amazing and worked in a recycling tent with 4 other people aged 20+ they really enjoyed the weekend. She biked to the venue each day!

It seems we both have a very different view point on the world and what is acceptable.

Regards,

Clare

Your email reply was arrogant and unprofessional.    I can only assume that you think it is ok to be so offhand with people and then be amazed when they have, what you no doubt consider to be the `cheek' to point this out to you.

I do not know you, have no intention of knowing you and have no personal axe to grind with you, but I find your offhand and frankly sloppy responses offensive to say the least.

I take it not too many spotty teenagers desperate for work `dare' to point this out to you.

Like I said - a course in good manners and customer relation skills, combined with making sure you send out the correct information in the first place, would not go amiss.

 XXXX,

I am staged by your response and speechless.

I have re-read all the emails and have no idea why you have written to me again and been so nasty.

As far as I am concerned I was writing to the person who applied for a job. There is no mention of a person called “Chloe”, I had no idea from the email if I was writing to a older or younger person. I have no idea of the person’s background, past experience or reasons for wanting to work with us.  I was just replying to a person and their response to work for my company even before coming for an interview. I was not rude or offences I was simply suggesting the email sent was not a good way to start in our recruitment of the person behind the email.

Your response is exceptional unnecessary and nasty to be honest. I don’t know yourself or Chloe and you don’t know me or my company. I thank you for your advice but I am very happy with how hard I work on behalf of everyone who works with us.

I sent two bulk emails out to 32 people who had pre-registered for interview slots in Chelmsford, I have not seen who these people are just and would not until the live interview day. I did not open this interview date up on our website and unsure how people were able to start selecting interview slots. We have been making a lot of updates and developing our site which could have resulted in this error we are unsure. As soon as our interview time table was confirmed, a venue booked I email out in bulk to apologies to everyone and offer new details.

Then I start getting emails from you.

I wish your daughter well in her career and apologies but due to the nature of your emails I would not feel comfortable offer her work due to your involvement.

 Dear clare (No capital?????)

Erm - well - I don't actually NEED a job, I already have one and have had one for the past 32 years.  The job was for my daughter, which is why the name given was Chloe XXXXXXXX I think she can do better if that is your attitude, which frankly stinks.  If any of my staff sent an email like the one you have sent to me, they would no longer have jobs.  Maybe you should consider your replies in future - not everyone is a desparate 18 year old that will take being spoken to like something you stepped in.

Maybe a course good manners and company relations would be a idea for you - after all, you don't actually know what I do for a living do you?  Heaven forbid I could be a Mystery Shopper ..............

In future, a polite `Thank you for your email would be a better way to proceed'.

There, and I didn't even charge you for that.

Thanks for your email Allie, nice to think you already think my company is a good company to work for.

To be honest not a very good start before an interview! To work festivals you have to be very open minded and accept change!

Will have to see if we can make it - I had booked the 31st off and don't think I can change it now.

To be honest, from a business point of view, this does inspire confidence in your company either.

Hi,

It seems that our interview option for V Chelmsford was opened up too early and with no real details. I do apologies for this error. Please find below the details of our interview venue and also we have changed the date to Wednesday 1st August. So keep the same interview slot and I hope you can make it on the Wednesday. Apologies as we are not interviewing any other day.
